But why should you care about Pinnacle’s odds dropping?

Pinnacle is widely regarded as one of the sharpest bookmakers in the industry, often setting the benchmark for odds across the market.

Off course, there are other bookmakers that excel in certain areas, like Betcris for golf, Circa for college sports, Heritage Sports for motor racing, and in the recent times, the betting exchanges like Betfair have have the edge in predicting the political events.

But when it comes to main sports like football(or soccer), basketball, tennis, esports, and so on, almost nobody does it as well as Pinnacle. So, when the Pinnacle’s odds drop, it’s often a reflection of new information coming to the market or a large bet by a big player/betting syndicate.

Paying attention to these shifts can give you an edge, allowing you to take advantage of stale/outdated odds on soft bookies and sometimes even on betting exchanges and other sharp/semi-sharp bookmakers.

Whether you’re looking for betting tools that will help you track Pinnacle odds movements or identify +EV betting opportunities, all of these contenders are worth considering. I have handpicked them based on their effectiveness, features, market and bookmaker coverage, and the overall value they offer to serious bettors.

As a bonus, I have also listed some betting apps that I wanted to include, but in the end, decided to skip due to certain reasons mentioned in the article.

Pinnacle Odds Dropper

Pinnacle Odds Dropper is a unique betting app, primary focused on delivering alerts about Pinnacle odds dropping. It also features limit changes and opening lines alerts.

The service is owned by POD Software Limited and it looks like they are based out of London, United Kingdom.

If my memory serves me correct, the service launched back in summer of 2023, with what was a very bare bones version of Pinnacle dropping odds alerts. However, they have been pushing update after update for the past year and I am very impressed with the current state of what is becoming one of the better betting apps.

One of the semi-recent updates saw the addition of the no-vig odds and a mobile app, which is great, but what is still missing (in my opinion) is an option to add like a 10% to those odds – which would make it easier to identify a 10% value bet. One or two columns with a user defined % would be the best, so the users can set themselves the % they want.

I really like this service, but I do wish they would support more sports, expecially esports. But considering how regularly they are updating their dropping odds platform, I think we will see new sports (and esports) added sooner than later.

And while I do get that Pinnacle is in the name of the service, but would love to see somewhere in the future them adding alerts for different sharp/semi-sharp bookmakers and betting exchanges.

OddsNotifier

OddsNotifier is an impressive suite of multiple betting tools, including instant odds movement change alerts, +EV alerts, a sheets tracker bot, movement alerts for horse racing and greyhound racing at Betfair Exchange, opening lines alerts, bookie scanner and more.

It’s definitely an impressive set of betting tools, and while most of their tools work on the dropping odds strategy, they certainly have more in common with the likes of RebelBetting or Trademate than with Pinnacle Odds Dropper.

I couldn’t find out much about the company behind the project, Bjermeland Solutions AS, but it seems that they are based out of Norway. Some of the co-owners are Tipster Charlie (150k+ followers on X), James McCoy ‘Macca’, and EVPositions. It looks like they also own MyMembers, a service for launching your own paid Telegram group.

They also offer a low-latency API with a support for 140+ bookmakers.

The pricing is fair considering they support more than 190 bookmakers and the fact that almost everything runs of Telegram bots is quite impressive. But I would love to see more sharp/semi-sharp bookmakers added – there are other line originators that are quite sharp, like Circa and Betcris/bookmaker.eu for some US sports, Heritage Sports for motorsports and so on.

One thing that bugged me out a little is that the current alert options lack the ability to set alerts for a specific percentage drop. For instance, there’s no option to get alerts for, say, a 5% drop. You can set a 0.10 drop, which might be around 5% if you’re moving from 1.90 to 1.80, but if you go from 4.10 to 4.00, that 0.10 drop is no longer 5%, but 2.44%.

Pinnacle Steamers

Pinnacle Steamers (or Chasing Steamers) is a service run across multiple Telegram channels that provide instant notifications for significant price drops in the market. Each Telegram bot will send an alert for matches starting within the next 8 hours.

The service is run by BettingIsCool, which operates several different services, including DartsH2H. These will all be covered in an upcoming article. For now, I will only focus on the Pinnacle Steamers service.

There are several different channels, depending on which sports you want to bet on:

Quick note: The number of alerts per month – Pinnacle Steamers recently released a massive update, adding support for more than 200 markets. Taking that into account, there should be way more alerts per month than what is currently listed on their main site.

ShootingBets

ShootingBets is operated by Betaminic, a company that offers various betting tools and services; Betamin Builder, Betlamp, soccer and tennis stats, and of course, ShootingBets. Betaminic is managed by Betaminic Bigdata Solutions, S.L.

ShootingBets is somewhat similar to Pinnacle Steamers; it operates on Telegram and supports bet365 odds. However, it lacks some features, like bwin odds, but compensates by offering alternative lines. See the example below:

ShootingBets decided to keep it simple with just two plans;

Free Plan: Offers limited access to alerts but provides a way for users to explore the service before committing. It is extremely limited, and I would not recommend it to try and follow it, as you will not get a decent amount of bets to combat variance.

30-day Membership: Priced at 49.99 EUR per month, this plan provides access to +EV alerts across various sports; basketball, volleyball, soccer, handball, and tennis. It covers markets like the moneyline, spread, and totals, and each alert comes with odds from bet365.

What about the services we didn’t cover?

For this edition of the article, we won’t be covering Oddalerts, Dombetting, or Steam Chaser from Outplayed.

Oddalerts offers a decent collection of betting tools, but its Pinnacle dropping odds alerts system feels more like an afterthought; almost like an attempt to capitalize on the latest trend in the betting industry.

Dombetting, while possibly one of the original Pinnacle dropping odds alert services, hasn’t been updated since March 5th, 2023, which raises some concerns about its reliability. The main software is also only available on PC, which might be an issue for some users.

As for Steam Chaser from Outplayed, while their matched betting software is among the best in the market, I find it hard to justify their steep pricing and some of the marketing around this new dropping odds tool.

Three payments of nearly 400 EUR (1200 EUR in total) for what appears to be lifetime access is, frankly, borderline insane. If this is being marketed toward the matched betting community – who, by nature, are not true value bettors and likely won’t prop up their accounts – they risk losing their accounts within days or weeks.

If you watch the video where they explain the service, it’s clear that many of the people commenting don’t fully understand what value betting actually is.

There are also some claims, like the one in the image below, that seem somewhat misleading.

There is no real correlation between bookmakers being less used in matched betting and the likelihood of getting restricted on sites where there are less matched betting offers. If anything, you’re more likely to get restricted faster at smaller, lesser-known sites.

Their dropping odds software looks good, and I like how it shows the value across the entire market for a single game. However, the price and the marketing strategy give me an odd feeling. I can’t help but wonder—why is this service not public? It’s certainly not because it’s unique or because they’re worried about disrupting the market.

So, is the real reason just to justify selling the service for €1200?

I’ll skip it for now, but if they release a public version, I’ll definitely do a separate review and eat my words if it turns out to be actually good.

There is also a sea of free dropping odds services, primarily found on odds comparison sites. However, most of these services are slow to update and often come from dubious sources. By the time they alert you to an odds drop, the value has likely already disappeared.

Since this won’t be the last time I review these kinds of betting tools, I’ll consider adding them in the next edition if I notice significant improvements.

Sports/Market Coverage

When selecting a betting app or service, it’s crucial to consider the number of sports and markets they support. Different countries have different rules, some bettors have access to local bookmakers only, while others don’t care what they bet on and just want to place as many +EV bets as possible.

In this section, I will compare the betting tools based on the range of sports and markets they cover.

Sports

Pinnacle Steamers supports the widest range of sports, 19 in total, including soccer, tennis, basketball, MMA, baseball, and many others. OddsNotifier comes in second with support for 16 sports.

Pinnacle Odds Dropper supports most major sports, but its coverage of niche sports is severely lacking. As for ShootingBets, it supports even fewer, focusing only on core sports like soccer, tennis, basketball, handball, and volleyball.

The thing that stands out here is that only OddsNotifier supports esports. I didn’t think much of it, as a couple of years ago, Pinnacle didn’t even offer esports via their API due to conflicts with another company that provided the odds (or something similar, can’t remember exactly, so keep in mind that this information might be outdated). I assumed this was still the case.

Apparently not. One of the developers of OddsNotifier mentioned that they are getting their esports odds via the official Pinnacle API. So, why don’t the other services offer esports? I don’t know.

So far, Pinnacle Steamers and OddsNotifier are the only services that support darts. If you’re looking to bet on darts, the BiC Darts Picks service (which works via Telegram and is run by the same owner as Pinnacle Steamers) might be a better option since it works on betting exchanges and with sharps. Alternatively, you can check out the more traditional tipping service called OnTheOche, which is being proofed by the Smart Betting Club.

For cycling and Formula 1, OddsNotifier is currently the only service that supports these. It’s also worth noting that for bet365, OddsNotifier supports all sports and markets available for opening odds.

As for horse and greyhound racing, OddsNotfier has a separate plan/feed that tracks Betfair Exchange odds movement. BiC had a similar service, but I don’t see it being offered anymore.

Bookmakers

This topic is a bit tricky, as bookmaker coverage can mean different things here. With Pinnacle Steamers, you receive notifications about odds dropping on Pinnacle, along with recommended value bets for bet365 and Bwin (although the service can be used with any other soft bookmaker of your choice).

With Pinnacle Odds Dropper, you only receive alerts about odds dropping and the no-vig odds that you need to beat, making the service usable on all soft bookmakers. The betting app also supports alerts about limit changes and opening lines.

OddsNotifier is the most advanced betting tool here, supporting more than 190 bookmakers, though with different functionalities. For Pinnacle, it offers alerts for opening odds, odds movements, and maximum bet limit changes. For other bookmakers like BetOnline, it provides +EV alerts for player props.

OddsNotifier recently added a bunch of new bookmakers and in terms of getting value bets for different bookmakers, this puts it on par with the likes of RebelBetting, BetBurger, Trademate, etc. The service certainly has more in common with the latter than with the likes of POD.

As for ShootingBets, you get alerts about Pinnacle odds dropping along with recommended value bets over at bet365 and alternative lines should the main line not be available on the bookmakers you use.

Betting Markets

Pinnacle Steamers and OddsNotifier lead the way here, as the rest don’t even come close to the number of betting markets these two support. Pinnacle Steamers supports over 200 markets, while OddsNotifier pretty much covers all of the available markets on Pinnacle.

With OddsNotifier, you also get markets like soccer corners and cards, as well as esports-specific markets like maps, towers, inhibitors, and so on, which technically make it the app with the most comprehensive betting market coverage, as Pinnacle Steamers doesn’t support esports.

Pinnacle Odds Dropper also supports corner markets.

Just a couple of days ago, Pinnacle Steamers released a massive update, which saw them add more than 200 markets to each feed. Now markets like BTTS, HT/FT, Correct Score, To Win To Nil, Shots On Goal, Anytime TD scorer, Player Points and many more are now supported, which makes these feeds quite a good value.

Types of Alerts

While Pinnacle Steamers and ShootingBets only provide Telegram alerts about dropping odds along with the minimum odds you should take, OddsNotifier and Pinnacle Odds Dropper provide more types of alerts.

Pinnacle Odds Dropper is the only service that doesn’t operate via Telegram, but via push alerts (on mobile) and sound alerts on the desktop version of the betting app.

OddsNotifer takes the gold here, as Pinnacle Odds Dropper is missing +EV and closing line alerts. You still get the minimum viable odds with POD, just not the bookmaker links and odds comparison.

Opening Lines Alerts

Pinnacle Odds Dropper and OddsNotfier are the only two services that support opening lines alerts. POD only supports Pinnacle, while OddsNotifier supports multiple bookmakers – see the table below.

Most people with be content with just Pinnacle or bet365 opening lines alerts, but some of the more professional bettors would also like to see opening lines alerts from the likes of Betcris/bookmaker.eu, Heritage Sports, BetOnline, Circa, and so on.

Performance & Usability

When choosing a betting tool, it’s not just about the features – performance and ease of use are critical. A fast and reliable betting app ensures you don’t miss out on +EV opportunities, while a well-designed interface can streamline your betting process and improve your overall efficiency.

Speed

Initially, I wanted to test the speed of alerts, but since all four services either lack relevant settings or have completely different configurations, I couldn’t figure out a fair and meaningful way to measure this.

However, as far as I know, all four services get Pinnacle odds directly from the Pinnacle API, so speed shouldn’t be an issue.

In the end, I placed a total of 100 +EV bets using each service, and I didn’t find anything unusual in terms of catching the odds. Sure, you might miss a couple of alerts, but that’s expected with this type of service.

It’s also not a big deal if you miss some alerts, as you’ll receive hundreds, if not thousands, of alerts each month. As long as you stick with it, have access to soft/local bookmakers, and have enough mental discipline to handle the variance, you should come out ahead.

Design

This is a bit more personal and not really that important (why care how it looks if it’s making you money?), but Pinnacle Odds Dropper really outshines everything else. The terminal aesthetics are something that just hits the spot for me personally. The addition of keyboard shortcuts is brilliant – it really speeds up navigation if you’re comfortable using the keyboard.

The POD dashboard is a work of art.

OddsNotifier has a platform dedicated to setting up Telegram channels, which might overwhelm some new users. However, they provide fairly detailed instructions on how to get everything up and running, along with some pre-made filters/feeds to compensate for that. The platform is perfectly usable on desktop and mobile, no complains here.

As for the other two services, they both operate via Telegram, so there’s not much to mention here. Perhaps ShootingBets alerts are a bit clearer, but you don’t get the bookmaker links.

Mobile friendly

Pinnacle Odds Dropper has a separate mobile app, while the other three all operate via Telegram feeds.

OddsNotifier has its settings on a separate dashboard, where you to set up the feeds, but this can still be done on mobile without any issues.

All four services are perfectly usable on mobile. However, the addition of bookmaker links in Pinnacle Steamers and OddsNotifier alerts will probably make your navigation and bet placement faster.

Ease of use, setting up the alerts

With Pinnacle Steamers and ShootingBets, you just connect to the Telegram server/feed and you are ready to roll. With the other two, POD and Oddsnotifier, there is some minimal setup required, but pretty straightforward in both cases, as both betting tools have plenty of tutorials and even pre-made filters.

Recording results

So far, OddsNotifier is the only service that supports bet tracking. Pinnacle Steamers just recently released a bet tracker, which I will cover in an upcoming article, but you still have to manually enter every bet.

About a week ago, Pinnacle Odds Dropper announced their own bet tracker, which looks amazing, and apparently, the release date is fast approaching.

But as of right now, OddsNotifier is the only service with an integrated bet tracker. The tracker itself is nothing special; just a typical Google Sheets spreadsheet. However, what makes it somewhat cool is the ability to upload it to bettin.gs, where you can see additional stats like turnover, profit per sport, bookmaker usage, and so on.

Pinnacle Odds Dropper is missing some quality-of-life features like bookmaker links, odds to beat at 5% or 10% ROI, and similar elements. However, it’s the second youngest service and has been updated regularly with new features almost every week!

If you are after Pinnacle in-play odds movement analysis, Pinnacle Odds Dropper is currently the only service that supports live markets. While it doesn’t support in-play alerts, you can check in-play odds, limits, movement, and no-vig odds, making it usable on nearly every bookmaker.

If you’re just after +EV alerts, you can’t go wrong with either OddsNotifier or Pinnacle Steamers.

If you only want amazing market coverage and info on what to bet on, and you’re fine with only getting bwin and bet365 odds comparison/links, then Pinnacle Steamers is as simple as baked beans.

If you want the service with the most features, one that rivals BetBurger, RebelBetting, and Trademate, then OddsNotifier is really, really, really good!

As for ShootingBets, I have a hard time recommending it. The service only supports bet365 odds comparison, so why not save a little each month by going with Pinnacle Odds Dropper or pay just 19 EUR more and get an amazing market coverage with Pinnacle Steamers.

It’s not a bad product per se, but the price just isn’t right. There’s a lot of competition in the 50 EUR price range right now.

OddsNotifer vs The Big Four

As mentioned previously, I think OddsNotfier has more in common with the more “traditional” value betting tools like RebelBetting, OddsJam, etc. So, let’s take a quick look at how they compare against the big four.

OddsNotifier has pretty much everything you need to make value betting profitable; +EV alerts, dropping odds alerts, bet tracker, and massive bookmaker coverage.

However, depending on where you’re located, it’s still worth checking if any other value betting tools offer better coverage. For example, OddsJam provides near-perfect coverage of US bookmakers, while Bet Hero supports the most Australian bookmakers.

Pinnacle Steamers vs ShootingBets

ShootingBets is priced at 50 EUR per month, which is reasonable for a total of five sports. However, with Pinnacle Steamers at 69 EUR per month and offering around 200 more markets, I think the 19 EUR increase is worth it.

ShootingBets does show alternative lines and their odds in the alerts, which Pinnacle Steamers do not. But at the same time, you will receive a massive number of alerts, so you’re probably better off skipping the bet if you can’t get on the main line immediately.

If you don’t care about props, BTTS, specials, and other similar markets, you can save 19 EUR per month by going with ShootingBets instead. But then again, if you go with Pinnacle Steamers Soccer, priced at around 45 EUR per month, you should again get way more alerts than with ShootingBets.

Price, market coverage and number of alerts wise, Pinnacle Steamers is simply a superior service.

Regular updates

Most reviewers overlook this type of section, but I think if you are willing to commit to a service for a longer period of time, you should expect proper support and updates – not just be left hanging a month after buying a six-month membership.

Recent updates include;

• Pinnacle Steamers adding more than 200 new betting markets
• Pinnacle Odds Dropper releasing their mobile app and adding the ability to easily copy team and tournament/league names
• OddsNotifier adding a lot of bookmaker support and launching their newest function: the +EV Scanner, which scans bookmakers on request for value bets

As for ShootingBets, I have failed to find any recent updates. The tool was release back in March and is obviously still working fine.

Summary

Tracking Pinnacle’s dropping odds is essential for finding value bets before other bookmakers adjust. Below are the top services for Pinnacle dropping odds alerts:

• Pinnacle Odds Dropper: Supports pre-match (and in-play, but no alerts) dropping odds, limit changes, and opening lines alerts. Has a sleek dashboard, mobile app, and regular updates, but lacks niche sports and esports.
• OddsNotifier: Multiple betting tools under under one roof. +EV alerts, 190+ bookmaker support, and customizable Telegram feeds. Similar to “traditional” value betting tools.
• Pinnacle Steamers: Simple Telegram alerts for multiple sports and 200+ markets. Only bet365 and Bwin odds comparison/links, but overall support the most sports.
• ShootingBets: Simple Telegram alerts. Only supports bet365 odds. Limited market coverage, only five sports.

Verdict: For most features, choose OddsNotifier. For simple, actionable alerts, Pinnacle Steamers or Pinnacle Odds Dropper are solid picks.

Some advice

If you have been +EV betting in the past, you will already know the things to do and things to avoid;

• spread your bets across as many bookmakers as you can
• avoid using VPNs to open new accounts (use a residential proxy if you must)
• prep/cook your accounts, at least until the initial check-up, which about a couple of weeks
• and so on

If not, below is some basic advice to help you get started.

Clicking on links to bookmakers

Personally, I don’t click on any links to bookmakers and try to find everything manually. The search feature at bet365 (one of the more popular bookmakers for this method of value betting) is quite good, and you can find most bets within seconds.

PinnacleOddsDropper allows you to copy team names directly from its dashboard, making it very easy and fast to use in conjunction with the bet365 search.

The reason behind avoiding clicking on bookmaker links is that bookmakers use almost every piece of data available to figure out if you’re a sharp or not. If they notice that most of your visits originate from external Telegram links, it might give them a clue.

I don’t have any concrete proof that they track this (though they do track clicks from odds comparison sites), nor have I done any real testing.

Prepping your accounts

Make sure you mask these kinds of bets as much as you can; add five to ten low-stake horse racing multiples per day, prep your accounts (bet365 accounts can be worth 5–20k if prepped correctly), use clean devices, etc.
